I have a great little book called 'Wild Women: Crusaders, Curmudgeons and Completely Corsetless Ladies in Otherwise Virtuous Victorian Era.' by Autumn Stephens
It has some great little quotes but this one in particular goes well with writing romance I think.
It was a quote by Lillie Hitchcock Coit, she was pledged to wed fifteen times before her twentieth birthday. She handled the simultaneous betrothals by alternating her engagement rings an a daily basis. She was known to frequent cock fights, prowled the seedy waterfront bars and once amused herself by hosting a violent boxing match at the exclusive Palace Hotel.
"Men are like tea - the real strength and goodness are not properly drawn until they have been in hot water."
